Christmas Glühwein
Glühwein
What could be more delightful during the Christmas period than a delicious Stollen with a glass of good heartwarming Glühwein. Glühwein can be bought at the store but is often of inferior quality or is even made chemically. So the best way to proceed is to make the glühwein yourself.
1 bottle of young rather alcoholic red wine from the southern Rhône area or the Languedoc-Roussillon (France)
Juice from 1 orange
Juice from ½ a lemon
Orange peel and lemon peel in small slices
2 cinnamon stick
3 cloves
200 g brown sugar
Let all the ingredients warm up (max. 70°) for at least 20’ (30' is even better) and strain.
Add a gentle dash of cognac and, if you think it’s too sweet, some lemon juice.
Serve very warm.
